Beyond The Seen

“Why do we trust our eyes, even when they quietly mislead us?”

This project explores how easily our perception can be bent, shaped, or misdirected—without us ever noticing. Drawing from cognitive biases and visual shortfalls, Beyond The Seen transforms everyday distortions of perception into a playful, tangible experience. Instead of explaining phenomena through abstract theory, the project turns them into something you can interact with, question, and ultimately understand in a more intuitive way.

Backstory

We navigate the world believing our eyes are neutral messengers. But subtle shortcuts and biases color how we judge people, spaces, and situations. This project began with a simple curiosity: what happens when these hidden influences are pulled out of the subconscious and placed directly into our hands?

Vision

The idea was to turn perception into something you can test rather than trust. A board game became the medium, an environment where assumptions surface quickly and familiar biases become visible through interaction. Instead of explaining illusions, the project lets players stumble into them.

Result

The game became a simple, tangible way to notice how perception can shift without warning. Through small tasks and visual cues, players experience how assumptions form and how easily they can be nudged. It’s not about complexity or polish, but about offering a moment to pause, reflect, and look again.

Conclusion

Beyond The Seen shows that seeing is not a passive act but an interpretation. By exposing the cracks in our certainty, the project encourages a more attentive, generous way of looking—at objects, situations, and each other.
